Windows & doors for your hup! extension
Building your dream hup! extension is a big commitment, and we want to make sure we can offer you the best range of products to ensure that you achieve the look, feel and performance that you are looking for.
Whether it be a traditional style orangery with a lantern roof and stylish vertical sliding windows, or an ultramodern, all glass structure with slim aluminium triple sliding or bifold doors, we aim to have the right solution for you.

Window options
uPVC or aluminium?
Each material has distinct strengths and trade offs depending on aesthetics, durability, thermal performance, design flexibility and budget.
Aluminium frames have slimmer sight lines, ie a higher glass to frame ratio and as such is popular with modern minimalist glass extension designs, especially where large areas need to be spanned. It can also be powder coated to achieve a huge range of colour options, and with a thermal break included in the specification achieves good energy ratings.
Upvc has bulkier frames and tends towards more traditional conservatory and orangery designs. It also achieves lower u-values (better thermal efficiency) and is more budget friendly than aluminium.
Here at Harveys we offer a full range of options across both materials, including traditional casement or flush sash windows, heritage and vertical sliding windows. All options are available to be seen at our showroom just outside Leicester city where we can sit with you and help you visualise your dream living space.

Door options
Sliding, French or Bifolding?
French doors are simple, effective, and budget-friendly option for a small to midsize extension. They are convenient to operate and offer a full opening when both doors are open.
2,3 or 4 pane sliding doors offer large glass expanses for a minimalist look which is excellent for panoramic views. They are also ideal for areas with limited interior or exterior space as they require no swing area. However, it must be borne in mind that only part of the opening is usable at any one time.
Bifolding doors consist of multiple door panels that concertina (fold and slide) to one or both sides of the opening. For large, open-plan spaces, they can provide the most flexible access and impressive opening width, ideal for entertaining and flow to the garden. You can also open one leaf as a traffic door for everyday use.
